Christopher Ward presently holds the OCTAVE certification as an instructor from the Carnegie Melon University (CMU) Software Engineering Institute (SEI) as the only qualified instructor in the world outside of SEI.
Chris emigrated to NZ after 28 years’ service in the British Army to take up a position with the New Zealand Defence Force. He is the current Strategic Information Assurance Manager.
He has attained a Master of Science in Communication Information Systems Management from University of Bournemouth (UK) as well as other certifications in the field of Information Assurance.
His Staff appointments have been mainly within the Capability Development area, culminating in his appointment as the head of Computer Network Defence (CND) Operations at the UK Ministry of Defence, Directorate of Defence Security, London. Mr Ward has held a variety of posts from satellite research, software development to Information Security Response Management at the MOD Computer Emergency Response Team (MODCERT). He then assumed the role as the MOD lead representative and advisor for information security and Assurance for international collaboration and coordination for CND including New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States. This lead on to a Key Responsibility of advisor to the MOD information infrastructure (Defence Information Infrastructure Future (DII(F))) roll out. (Largest public funded project in Europe).
Mr Ward has had operational duty in the Middle East, Africa, South Atlantic and the Balkans with the UK, NATO and the United Nations.
Mr Ward is married to Gerry and they have two children. His hobbies include aviation, golf and computing.
