Professor Siah Hwee Ang is the inaugural BNZ Chair in Business in Asia. He took up the appointment in September 2013. The work of the BNZ Chair is sponsored by the BNZ; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; New Zealand Customs Service; Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment; New Zealand Trade and Enterprise; and Victoria University of Wellington. Siah was previously Professor in Strategy and Associate Dean Postgraduate and International at the University of Auckland Business School. Siah has also been undertaking research at the Cass Business School, City University in London. He holds a PhD in management awarded at the National University of Singapore, where he has also been a teaching and research fellow.
Siah’s main research interests are in the areas of alliances and acquisitions, competition, technology strategy, international business strategy, reputation and international and strategic human resource management. Siah’s works have been published in international top-tier journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management and Journal of Management Studies. He has also written two books, one on international business, the other on business and management research designs. Five research awards are testimony to Siah’s quality research work. He is currently on the editorial board of seven international journals and has been on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Journal, a prestigious journal, for six years. He has also been the Assistant Editor of the journal Long Range Planning for six years. Siah was also a specialist advisor appointed by New Zealand’s Tertiary Education Commission for the Business and Economics panel for the 2012 Performance-Based Research Fund round.
